Drive In Pallet Racking
Warehouse Drive In Pallet Racking for Space‑Efficient Storage
Drive In Pallet Racking is a high-density storage system commonly used in warehouses where maximising space is a priority. The racking allows conventional forklift trucks to drive directly into the storage lanes to pick up or place down pallets, rather than using standard aisles between each row, achieving up to 85% floor space utilisation.
This allows you to increase the amount of stock held in one space whilst maximising the footprint of your warehouse.

What Is Drive In Pallet Racking?
Drive in racking systems are high-density storage solution designed for efficient space utilisation. Stock is picked using standard forklift equipment, such as counterbalance and reach trucks, and the warehouse racking can accommodate pallets stored up to 10 positions deep.
This system consists of pallet racking vertical uprights with support rails installed on either side to securely hold pallets. Forklifts can enter the racks to retrieve pallets weighing up to 1,000 kilograms and reaching heights of up to 13,000mm.
Designed to operate on a Last-In / First-Out (LIFO) basis, drive-in racks feature rows positioned adjacent to each other, reducing the need for multiple aisles and creating deep storage lanes that form a cubic storage structure. Each lane is typically dedicated to a single SKU, with stock accessed and replenished from the front. Drive-in racking systems can be adapted for First-In First-Out (FIFO).
Due to its efficient design, drive-in racking systems are well-suited for storage facilities storing both perishable and non-perishable goods in large quantities. It is commonly employed in environments with controlled temperatures, serving industries such as food and beverage manufacturing, distribution, and other sectors requiring solutions with high storage capacity. The racking can be designed to meet your exact storage requirements.

What Is The Difference Between Drive In / Drive Through Pallet Racking Systems?
Drive through racking systems shares a similar design concept with drive-in racks; however, it provides access to pallets from both ends of the rack.
This system operates on a First-In / First-Out (FIFO) basis, meaning that the first items loaded onto the rack are the last to be retrieved. It offers high-density storage capacity comparable to drive-in racks, with the added advantage of accessibility from both ends, allowing for efficient loading from one side and retrieval from the other.

Key Advantages of Double Deep Pallet Racking Systems
Drive-In Pallet Racking is a high-density storage solution, ideal for storing large volumes of similar items.
Here are the key advantages:
Maximised Storage Density
Utilises up to 85% of available warehouse space. Reduces the number of aisles needed, allowing increased storage capacity with more pallets to be stored in a smaller warehouse footprint.
Ideal for High Volume, Low SKU Storage
Perfect for businesses that store large quantities of the same SKU. Common in cold storage, food & beverage, and seasonal goods storage.
Cost-Effective
Lower upfront cost compared to automated warehouse storage solutions. Reduced need for additional floor space can save on facility expansion costs.
LIFO Or FIFO Compatible
Supports LIFO method (Last-In / First Out) as standard. Can be adapted for a FIFO method (First-In / First-Out) with a drive-through configuration (entry and exit on opposite ends).
Simplified Inventory Management
Drive in pallet racking simplifies inventory management by consolidating inventory by SKU, simplifying stock control and reducing handling errors.
Main Applications Of Drive-In Racking Systems
Drive-in pallet racking systems are high-density storage solutions ideal for storing large quantities of similar items.
Key applications include:
Bulk Storage
Ideal for storing large volumes of the same SKU, streamlines inventory control and retrieval.Temperature Controlled Warehouses
Maximises storage space where costs are high, reducing energy consumption per pallet stored.Beverage and Food Distribution
High pallet movement of SKUs move on a Last-in / First-out (LIFO) basis, achieving efficient turnover of dated stock.Manufacturing Plants
Stores raw materials or finished goods that are uniform and consumed in batches, keeping production lines well supplied.Seasonal Goods Storage
Perfect for items with specific production or sales cycles, providing high-density storage.
Warehouse / 3PL Providers
Efficient for managing fast-moving bulk inventory, reducing retrieval times and shipping schedules.
